Have you ever tought about what are you seeing when you look out the window? You look out and you see the nature, trees, cars, houses, people, your reflection on the window and animals. You see the every day stuff, right! But, have you ever tought about the fact, why you see your reflection faintly on the window. It's because the god damn photons and the god damn wave-particle dualism of them! 95% goes through the window glass but 5% reflects back, so that you can see your reflection.
Light (photons) is and isn't wave and particles. Yes,yes, I know that this doesn't make any sense, but it is the truth. How can on thing be two different things at the same time, well according to Einstein, they can't, but when quantum mechanics step into play they can. So, light is both wave and particle, yet at the same time it is not either.... Extremely hard to comprehend, but the math does back this up. There is still so much deeper theory, 26 different dimesions and stuff (String theories) that we can not be sure for absolute certainty, what is "real" (Heisenber uncertainty).
What is real is "vague" for me, if you quote Morpheus from the movie Matrix "What is real? How do you define real? If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain." So, by this definition the real is pretty real, right! But when you include the world of quanta and even grasp the concept of Quantum Theory, you could say that "I have no idea of what this is about" and true to that, not even the inventors of quantum and string theory (there is nearly hundred of them) have a complete understanding of what causes the photons to act like wave and particle, the uncertainty of the quanta can not be known. We can only be sure that they are both.
So what is real? Einstein said "God does not play dice with the universe" meaning that the things that happen are some how "predetermined"(by a higher force, God maybe? Did Einstein believe in god?) but what Einstein did not like, was the quantum theory! because, quantum theory means that what ever happens happens by accident, there is no "God" and what is quite weird is that Einstain also said "Quantum theory reconciles not only General Relativity, but it reconciles God also". More complicated still is that, in fact Einstein was searching for the "String Theory" to fulfill the theory of everything.
So! if we live in a multiverse, a multidimesional universe, what is then real? Obviously we can not see these "other dimension" because we do not need to, the evolution made sure of that. We need only see that, what we need to see to survive, this is the Darwin way and it does make sense. Why would we need to see at the atomic scale, how would it help us to survive the physical world? But, quantum world does give us more answers about the very nature of reality! it also gives us more questions! In the end the reality is what we make of it. Yes, we can affect our own lives in some ways, but the very nature of the universe is chaotic, things happen for no reason (proven by the Wave-particle dualism) there is no predetermined path, only cause and effect! But still is it so? How can we be sure? Hopefully LHC (Large Hadron Collider) gives us some more detailed view of everything.
Wow, I feel that I forgot something important (like, the point of this:D) but this is my speculation and the way I see the reality. If you have anything you would like to ask me or anything you would like to know... Please asks:)
